In medicine, new technology is improving patient outcomes.
In medicine, new technology is improving patient outcomes.

The Profiles Series explores many of the issues that are making headlines on the news and other issues that families are talking about every day. New advances are changing the way we view the world around us.

Advances in healthcare, technology, education, and community service are helping to make our world a very different place than it was just a few years ago.

Technology is helping doctors develop new treatments for disease. Researchers are using technology to develop new, clean energy resources that will help alleviate rising energy costs and reduce the toll on our fragile planet.

In education, new ideas are helping to better prepare tomorrow’s leaders in the classroom today. Charter schools and distance learning have given students of all ages more ways to absorb information or explore new subjects. For students who face special challenges because of disabilities, teachers are now better equipped to help them get more out of education, preparing them for a fast paced future in a technology-based economy.

In many fields, the very best minds are reshaping approaches to the most oppressing issues. Every day, these advances are making their way from the proving grounds, laboratories, and research studies into our everyday lives.

Executive Producer Walter Waiters, senior associate producer Joel Walters, associate producers Ryan Chadderton, Rachel Van Drake, Randi Gardner, Scott Kuntz, and Ralph Gonzalez are working on new reports for the Profiles Series TV show.
